Paul Ayuretoliya writes: This is an update from the CESRUD/ FAVL Ghana for the first and second weeks in April. Community library patronage for the two weeks in April was very good. A good number of people who were mostly students and pupils visited the respective community libraries and read different kinds of storybooks. Some users worked on assignments given by their teachers, others read their notes in preparation for their examination. At the Sumbrungu community library, patronage continuous to soar every day, sometimes the sitting space is not able to accommodate all patrons. Thus some patrons do resort to sitting under the summer huts and on the verandas to read. Students and pupils from the surrounding schools were usually the most frequent visitors to the library during the daytime. In the evening, students from both far and near schools visited the library. Students from St. Charles Lwanga JHS continued visiting the library twice every week to continue with their reading project. At the Sherigu community library, attendance so far has also been good. Students and pupils from St. Peter and Paul Academy, Sherigu Primary and JHS, Dorongo Primary and JHS are regular users during the day time, others also visited the library during the evening session. At Gowrie-Kunkua library, the patronage has not been great due to the ongoing renovations work. The work is expected to be completed within this Month. Patronage is expected to greatly increase when the library work is completed and open for public patronage. The renovation work at the is almost completed, the flooring and plastering works have been completed, windows works completed, and the most important work outstanding is the painting works. At the Sumbrungu Library the extension works to extend the sitting space is rapidly going on, I am happy with the work done so far.
