A report from Amoah Marinus A./Librarian, Sumbrungu Community Library, on the Night Activities for the second week of May, 2024. The Sumbrungu Community Library serves as a hub for educational and recreational activities within the community. This report provides an overview of the night activities conducted during library hours, focusing on group reading and individual reading sessions. During the library’s night activities, a group reading session was organized to promote literacy and community engagement. Participants gathered in the designated reading area where I (Amoah Marinus) led the session. The chosen reading material was a story book entitled The Obedient children , Davids day at the mines, fati and the honey tree and the lucky one. The session aimed to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills among participants. Interactive discussions were encouraged, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Feedback from attendees indicated a positive reception to the group reading sessions, with participants expressing enthusiasm for future sessions. In addition to group reading, individuals were also encouraged to engage in personal reading activities. The library provided a wide selection of books across different genres and age groups to cater to diverse interests. Participants had the freedom to choose their reading materials and read at their own pace. I (Amoah Marinus) was available to provide assistance and recommendations as needed. The individual reading sessions promoted independent learning and encouraged a love for reading among participants. Feedback from library users highlighted the importance of access to a variety of reading materials and the positive impact of individual reading time on personal development.
