The inter-schools sports competition hosted at St. Charles Lwanga JHS, the school geographically closest to the library, had a very positive impact on our attendance this week. From Monday to Thursday, the library saw a continuous flow of students from various junior high and primary schools in the Sumbrungu area. Many students came to the library to study in the hours before their events, while others used it as a quiet place to rest after matches. On the afternoon of Thursday, we were honored to host Mr. Francis Abanga, a student from the Bolgatanga Technical University. Mr. Abanga, upon seeing the large number of students, offered to share a few words. He engaged the students in an informal session, offering words of advice and encouragement. He spoke on the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities, setting career goals early, and the value of using community resources like the library to achieve academic success. The students were attentive and engaged, asking questions at the end of the session. His status as a relatable, successful young adult from the region made his message particularly impactful.
